Kefalonia Beaches

Katelios Beach

Katelios village and beach lies 29 km away from Argostoli. It is traditionally a fishing village and one of the most relaxing places on the island.

The area is known for its peaceful atmosphere, ideal for a family vacation. The long sandy beach of Katelios is reached via a picturesque valley between lush hills, suitable for nature lovers. The beach is not a tourist resort, but rather a tranquil area with lush green hills as a backdrop. Tourist facilities are not permitted in this protected region. The coast is much preferred for long walks and sunbathing. The waters are crystal clear and offer a safe shallow swimming. There are sun loungers and chairs provided by the restaurants above the beach, but there is no water sport center.

At the main road of Katelios you will find a couple of nice beachfront cafes and fish taverns.

Some of the historical sites you shall visit are the impressive church of the Virgin and the tiny village of Markopoulos which is built amphitheatrically on a high altitude with a perfect view to the Ionian Sea.
